Ming's Redevelopment & Exciting Changes Ahead!

A Bay Area tradition since 1956, our beloved landmark Ming's Chinese Cuisine and Bar in Palo Alto, CA will close at the end of Sunday, December 28, 2014 for exciting changes!

After careful consideration, we felt the time was right to make a change to better serve the needs of the local community. A redevelopment project kicks off in spring 2015 with plans for a Staybridge Suites hotel and a smaller 150-seat Ming's restaurant. Part of the Intercontinental Hotel Group, Staybridge Suites is an extended-stay hotel with home-like comforts such as fully-equipped kitchens.

While we are excited about the changes and the bright future ahead, the closing of the current Ming's is bittersweet. Ming's has been a long time destination offering banquet dinners and daily selections of handmade dim sum (small steamed or fried savory dumplings) sumptuously displayed on rolling carts. Signature dishes included, Ming's Famous Chinese Chicken Salad, Ming's Beef, and so many more. During major Chinese holidays, our dining guests were frequently treated to live lion dance performances and expert moon cake making demonstrations.

Ming's first opened on July 26 in 1956 at 4300 El Camino in Palo Alto and later relocated to it's current location at 1700 Embarcadero in 1968. After acquiring Ming's in 1991, we listened to our customers and responded by offering a full vegan and vegetarian alternative menu. We were honored to have the opportunity to preserve Ming's legacy for so many years.

On behalf of the entire Ming's Team, we are sincerely grateful to our loyal customers and community partners for the tremendous support over the years. We look forward to celebrating with you - our Ming's family of friends, customers, and community partners - at the opening of our next venture!
